I just subscribed and clicked on this piece. The stars aligned I suppose, for your words were the perfect balm to my inner hesitations. I am a newbie writer on Substack and yesterday I was on the floor moaning in agony (exaggeration, but want to give honor to the distress) about social media from the perspective of one who has no following (me, of course). I am very happy to have found your work!
Thanks for the subscription Renee and the kind words. I can completely relate to the inward struggle of starting out. I've been on Substack for just over a year now and I've found it liberating to ignore the stats/metrics and focus on people and interactions that enrich me both at a personal and intellectual level. The rest will follow suit, or at least that has been my experience. All the best with the new Substack venture!
Thank you, Josh, for supporting my new venture with a subscription to my newsletter! I Your writing is so engaging and full of truth, and I'm just really glad I discovered you. It's wonderful to hear the advice about ignoring the stats/metrics as I check them a little too often. And I don't understand the stats fully anyways! Also, I've taught yoga/meditation for years, so the loss of not being able to gauge how people are responding and pivoting if necessary is the biggest challenge so far. New territory, indeed! Looking forward to your next letter.
BRILLIANT! Thank you for this! Pls keep those articles coming!
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed this
A true reflection of my own experience with the legal stuff I have drafted.
Thanks so much. I’m sure there would be several overlaps!
Very real & down-to-earth expression of your thoughts. Thank you for the "awakening".

Stoic philosopher Epictetus says: “if you need a witness, be your own.” This is the audience creation version of that timeless axiom. Great work!
Thanks for your comment. And what do you write?
