Uncertainty is so unsettling for us as a group, isn’t it? I struggle with that every day - trying to live without forming a conclusion that would, in any case, be wrong most of the time. In other news, I wanted to share this link with you from Courtney Cook who had a take I think you might appreciate: https://courtneycook.substack.com/p/elons-not-the-problem-we-are?r=1dh03&utm_medium=ios
It sure is. There is an incredible amount of reverence placed on finding answers and solutions. There is also a compulsion to keep seeking until we're satisfied with what we find. We are, as a species, very destination-focused.
Thanks for sharing Courtney's piece, I just had a read and you're right, it's a view I strongly resonate with! So glad to see others starting to understand there is more to material ownership in a world of very little constants.
So true about how humans want certainty at all costs. We, as a species, want safety so desperately that often we create prisons and loss of freedom. It makes me wonder if freedom is just too frightening for most, as it does require nuance and continually opening up more the aperture of awareness. I wonder where I am in this fear/freedom dance. Of course I want to believe I am a freedom-dancer, but I imagine I am pulled by fears in ways I don't see. And that is uncomfortable.
That is so true Renee, a dance it definitely is! I guess in some ways true freedom (to me) is about accepting this liminal space between 'fear' and 'opportunity' with non-judgement. I've struggled with this on many occasions myself but the struggle has also thought me to calibrate my understanding of certainties in a world where anything is really possible.
Thanks so much for reading and responding. We should all aspire to be freedom-dancers.
I love this ideas about the liminal space between fear and opportunity. (I had to look up the word liminal and now wonder why this fabulous word has escaped me all these years... a bit embarassed!)
I struggle in that space often as it has the experience of free-falling, which is probably the ego losing control.
Josh, I was going to forward this to you but could find how. Have you seen this piece by Charlie Warzel from earlier this morning? https://newsletters.theatlantic.com/galaxy-brain/
Thanks for sharing! I just had a read and some really interesting insights on Musk and his overall approach. Fascinating stuff!

Thanks so much for reading Courtney and I agree it’s wonderful how words are a medium for connection!

Hooray for nuance!
Indeed!
